Why American Forests?
We partner locally to restore forests for climate, water, and community resilience. Our collaborative model puts foresters side-by-side with federal, state, and local partners to get work done on the ground in service of private and Tribal land stewards. We help strengthen capacity with funding and technical assistance, science-backed planning tools, and connections to regional forest restoration programs. And with our streamlined contracting process, we help support landowners on demand.
OUR EXPERTISE

Reforestation
with purpose
Forest restoration starts with a plan. From site prep to planting and maintenance, we help you recover from wildfire, drought, storms, pests, or other damage. Based on your management goals, we use the best available science to create site-specific, climate-adapted plans built for resilience now and in the future.

Technical
reforestation resources
We develop science-backed tools and resources to guide climate adaptation practices and unpack emerging carbon, water, biodiversity, and biochar market opportunities, so you can make the best decisions for your land.

End-to-end support
We connect landowners to forestry grants and cost-share opportunities, events and workshops, technical partners, and local implementation contractors to support projects from early stage planning to post planting monitoring.

Indigenous-led biocultural restoration
Under Tribal leadership, we provide funding, planning assistance, and technical resources to support landscape restoration projects grounded in cultural values and practices. We honor Tribal sovereignty and Traditional Ecological Knowledge from a place of respect and humility.
